A woman who allegedly attempted to set ablaze her boyfriend after a quarrel has been arrested and charged with arson.

The accused, Caroline Moraa,33, is said to have set ablaze her boyfriend’s house after a quarrel on the night of June 28.

The boyfriend, only identified as Koech, was allegedly asleep at the time, and had no idea that his girlfriend was planning to burn him alive in the house.

According to court documents, the house valued at Sh500,000, belongs to Cecilia Ombungi.

A witness told police she heard the two quarreling over food at around 10pm on the material day, but ignored them since they had the habit of fighting almost every day.

However, at around 3am, the witness told police, he was woken by a loud explosion in the building. On stepping outside, he allegedly found Koech’s burning room locked from outside.

Moraa, who was linked to the arson, is said to have gone into hiding at the time.

On July 1, Moraa was rescued by police when the public attempted to lynch her for attempting to burn her boyfriend while he was asleep.
