Hi Chris,
There is a new girl who just joined our team at work, and she has brought out the mean girl in us all. She dresses very provocatively and you should hear some of the comments! But why do we even care what she wears?
Low Cut
Chris says,
Hi Low Cut!
Everyone is nice to an attractive woman who dresses modestly. But if she is in a low-cut blouse and short skirt, then everything changes. The men will still love her, of course. But the women won’t.
She will be met with stares, anger and disgust. And talked about behind her back. Women everywhere dislike an attractive female who dresses provocatively.
But are women not supposed to stick together and be nice to one another? Not a bit of it. Women everywhere compete fiercely for the best partners. But they do it indirectly.

So while men’s fights are usually direct physical or verbal assaults, girls are much more likely to use a whole range of indirect tactics. Like gossip, shunning, backstabbing, revealing secrets, spreading rumours, criticising clothing, appearance or personality.
And mocking gestures like up-and-down stares, rolling their eyes, averted gaze and fake smiles. All probably undetected by everyone except the women being attacked.
Because indirect aggression is very clever. Very effective. And can be so skilled that it can look as if nothing is going on at all.
But why are you all reacting so strongly to your provocatively dressed colleague?
It is because she is exploiting men’s desire for casual sex, and women everywhere punish females who seem to make sex too readily available. Through ‘slut-shaming,’ the stigmatisation of female promiscuity. Which is always enforced by women, not by men.
Women putting down other attractive females goes far beyond simple aggression. For example, it’s rivalry between women that’s created the modern fashion for thinness. Because what women consider an ‘ideal body shape’ is far thinner than what men consider a woman’s ideal shape.
Just like it’s women’s hostility to women who are ‘too sexually available’ which creates the ‘double standard.’ Which expects men to be promiscuous, while loose women are scorned…
All the best,
Chris
