It is a great day to make some delicious chicken mishkaki. Mishkakis are easy to make and can be enjoyed with yoghurt or salad. A tasty treat for your tastebuds.
What you will need:
2 boneless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon olive oil
Salt to taste
Half teaspoon black pepper
Half teaspoon turmeric
Quarter teaspoon clove powder (optional)
3 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons plain yoghurt
1 teaspoon honey
2 limes, juiced
4 large green peppers
10 wooden skewers, soaked in water
What to do:
Cut the chicken breasts into medium-sized cubes. Put them in a bowl and add the oil, salt, black pepper, turmeric, clove powder, garlic, yoghurt, honey and lime juice.
Give your ingredients a good mix using your hands; you want the chicken cubes to be coated with all the flavours.
Let the marinated chicken stand at room temperature for 15 minutes so that the infusion magic happens.
At the same time, cut the green peppers into medium-sized cubes. Now thread your chicken, alternating with the green peppers; have at least three chicken cubes per skewer.
Place a pan on medium heat. When hot, spray a little oil on the pan. Throw in about five skewers in the pan, turning them often so that they cook evenly on both sides - you want them to have a lovely golden colour.
Finish off with the other five. You can grill them from a charcoal grill, which is a much healthier option.
Pour the remaining marinade into a pan and add the remaining yoghurt. Place over medium fire and heat for a few minutes. Your sauce for dipping the skewers is ready.
