A woman has revealed how she discovered that her best man's wife had worn her wedding ring to do the washing up before her big day.
She explained that when she married her now ex-husband their ceremony was simple - they wanted it to feel like they were throwing a party for their 50 closest friends and family.
Her sister was her only bridesmaid and her husband's best man was his oldest friend, "just a pity his wife hated me" she told KidSpot.
To stay in keeping with the "non-traditional" theme of their relationship and wedding, she wore her engagement ring for two years, instead opting to have it buffed and polished before the wedding.
It was a pavé-set diamond band which she'd purposely chosen knowing that she didn't need to purchase a second ring.
A few days before the wedding she handed it over to the best man, who would keep it until she was to wear it as a wife - except it didn't go to plan.
At the reception all of her friends were gazing adoringly at her ring when the best man's wife came over and said: "Yes, it’s beautiful, isn’t it? I wore it all morning, just wandering around the house. I even wore it when I was doing the dishes. That’s why it looks so clean."
As a lawyer the bride explained that although she had been trained in the art of argument, she said nothing - but that's not to say she was furious with her confession.
Adding: "How dare she take my ring out and wear it as if it were her own – and then wash her filthy breakfast dishes with it, when she knew I’d be wearing it at my wedding in just a few hours?"
Over the years the bride could see that the woman had never wanted to embrace their relationship and instead chose to pick flaws at every opportunity.
Although she knew the bride was conscious of her weight, she'd comment on how brave she was to wear a certain style of dress because of her curves or pointing out that she eats a lot and clearly loves her food.
And instead of admiring her ring at any point throughout her engagement, she had waited until her wedding day to take advantage of a time when she couldn't ask to try it on.
"While she might have been married to the best man, I think she’s a terrible woman."
