Award winning fashion blogger, Nancy Mwai, talks about her love for fashion

How would you describe your style?

All over the place; I do not have a distinct look. I wear what works for my body and my mood.

Apart from being one of Kenya’s top fashion bloggers with many awards, what else do you do?

I am also a stylist and I sell stylish bags.

What do you love most about fashion blogging?

I get to share my passion with people. I also like the fact I really love my work and do not consider it work.

What is your highest career moment?

When I got the chance to attend the Berlin Fashion Week last year. It was a mind-blowing experience.

 Any new projects we can expect from you this year?

For now, my mind is on having my baby and then I will be able to settle into work afterwards.

Your pregnancy dressing style is fresh and cool. What inspires you?

My baby. I have had a smooth sailing pregnancy full of energy and I always want to dress up and look good.

What advice would you give women about maternity style?

You do not have to buy dull maternity clothes. I only bought a few pairs of maternity denims. The rest were normal clothes, just a size or two bigger.

You do not seem to have put on much weight during your pregnancy; what is your secret?

Oh really. I think I have put on a lot weight. It is just not noticeable. I am, however, always on the move.

What is your biggest challenge in pregnancy?

Sleeping at night is a problem, especially now that I am in my third trimester. I never get sleep;, I am always tossing and turning; hence I am half-awake most of the night.

What is your biggest craving?

A cold soda. I am not picky about the flavour. All I need is for it to be cold.

How many months are you? Is it a girl or boy?

I am in my last month. I am not telling the gender yet. I want to keep that private for now.

Do you have a secret talent, a gift people do not know about?

Is cooking a talent? I love to cook. I can throw down a mean meal.

What do you do for ‘me time’?

‘Me time’ is important. I always make time for myself where I just sit and relax and gather my thoughts — no TV, no laptop, no phone.

Do you have someone special in your life?

Yes I do. He is good looking, has a big heart, makes me laugh and is patient with me.

What do you know now about relationships that you wish someone told you when you were younger?

It gets better with time and you will know when the right one comes along.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I honestly do not know. I live a day at a time and I take what life offers and work with it. Five years ago I did not think I would be here.
