Nairobi County President, Mike Sonko has announced that he is ready to nominate a new deputy governor to replace Polycarp Igathe. Igathe quit on January 31, 2018, claiming that he had failed to earn the trust of Mr Sonko.
On Wednesday midmorning, Sonko said he had carved down his long list of 10 to four names and he was only waiting to consult with Jubilee Party leadership on who to pick. Speaking to a local radio station, Sonko said that he preferred a woman for the position.
“I have four names in mind but I am waiting for consultations with top Jubilee party leadership who are my bosses to see who to choose,” he said.
The four in Sonko’s list are:
Margaret Wanjiru:
Televangelist and former Starehe MP:
Agnes Kagure:
Corporate guru
Karen Nyamu:
Lawyer and former Nairobi Woman rep aspirant
Jane Weru:
Lawyer and former ED Kituo cha Sheria
