East Africa Breweries Ltd (EABL) has been named the best graduate employer by the Global Career Company (GCC).

At the just-concluded Careers in Africa Employer of Choice Awards organized by African recruitment firm GCC in Nairobi, the beer maker also came second in the corporate social responsibility category.

Speaking at the awards on leveraging millennial talent for future leadership, Kenya Breweries Ltd (KBL) Head of Talent Engagement Nicholas Kasidhi attributed the firm’s awards to its commitment to produce a pool of qualified human resource professionals who can contribute to East Africa’s socio-economic development. The firm, he added, also equips its staff to drive sustainable regional growth.

“To be career ready in our ever-changing global economy requires adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning,” Mr Kasidhi said.

“This is required alongside mastery of key academic, technical and workplace knowledge, skills and dispositions that vary from one career to another, and change over time as a person progresses along a developmental continuum.”

Kasidhi added that EABL’s reputation as an employer brand has gained “amazing momentum” as the firm leverages on human resources to implement its growth plans. It directly employs more than 1,500 people, and indirectly supports another two million across East Africa.

The Careers in Africa Employer of Choice Awards are the first of their kind recognizing pan-African employer attractiveness. This year’s survey featured the views of 13,000 African professionals.

The awards bring together senior African HR professionals and business leaders to share best practices with peers, meet the region’s brightest talent and recognize leading employers. The awards methodology takes company ratings provided by prospective employers across 29 attraction drivers, asking talent to grade organizations against these drivers.
