Beyonce embarked on a very restrictive diet to get in shape for headlining Coachella

Beyonce has revealed that her post-birth diet - which rules out almost all food - has left her "hungry".

The 37-year-old singer opened up about her diet and fitness regime in her new Netflix documentary, Homecoming.

The Crazy In Love singer revealed all about how much she weighed after giving birth to twins Sir Carter and daughter Rumi in June 2017 and the dieting regime she has undertaken to tackle her post-birth body.

The twins were delivered by emergency cesarean section and Beyonce has spoken previously about how she was swollen from toxaemia after the birth.

In April 2018, Beyonce was due to headline Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, so embarked on a restrictive diet to get herself into shape.

But it left Queen Bey with virtually nothing she could actually eat, meaning she was always "hungry".

In the documentary, Beyonce revealed: "In order for me to meet my goals, I’m limiting myself to no bread, no carbs, no sugar, no dairy, no meat, no fish, no alcohol… I’m hungry."

Despite listing what she won't eat, Beyonce didn't reveal what actually is on the menu on a day-to-day basis.

She said: "I was 218 pounds (98kg) the day I gave birth. I had to rebuild my body from cut muscles. What people don’t see is the sacrifice."

Now, she is in a better place with her body and is embracing her "mummy pouch".

She admitted: "To this day, my arms, shoulders, breast, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mummy pouch, and I’m in no rush to get rid of it. I think it’s real.

"Whenever I’m ready to get a six pack, I will go into beast zone and work my arse off until I have it.

"But right now, my little FUPA and I feel like we are meant to be."

It has been a difficult journey for the singer, who has struggled to balance her career with motherhood, as she has had to make changes to how she has approached her music.

“Just trying to figure out how to balance being a mother of a six-year-old (Blue Ivy, now 7) and of twins that need me and giving myself creativity and physically, there’s a lot to juggle.

"It’s not like before when I could rehearse 15 hours straight. I have children. I have a husband. I have to take care of my body.”

Fortunately, this now involves a diet in which not everything on the menu is unavailable.
