Imagine not correcting a mistake on your CV for three months?

Horrifying, isn't it? It's almost enough to make you run to the computer and double-check you haven't accidentally inserted one.

Now imagine that the mistake was incredibly obvious and should have been picked up straightaway?

It sounds, frankly, unbelievable  - but 2020 has taught us that truth is often stranger than fiction.

In a post on Reddit, a man shared a story of how his girlfriend's chances were ruined after she didn't check her CV before sending it out to prospective bosses.

After she asked him to save her CV, he didn't notice that the computer had changed the name on the document to her profile username.

Once he revealed what had happened - and even shared a grab of how it looked - it became clear why his girlfriend hasn't been hearing back about any job offers.

"Obligatory this happened 3 months ago & we finally realized what happened today," he began.

"One day while my girlfriend was at work she asked me to go on her computer which was open at home.

"All I had to do was re-save her resume in a new file titled “gf’s resume”.

"Simple right? Wrong... Whilst saving said resume, her computer thought it would be funny to change the name header back to the profile user name.

"PRINCESS BANANA HAMMOCK, which was then shortened to Princess Banana Hamm due to spacing.

"Neither of us noticed. Fast forward to today, she goes to update her resume to apply for a new job and there it was.

"The bane of her existence. We both immediately realized why she hasn’t been getting called back for any interviews.

"Needless to say she’s not too impressed with me right now & I’m not allowed to do anything on her computer for her ever again.

"Happy holidays, at least next year she might get some calls back."

Lots of people were amused by the mistake - although one person advised checking the rest of the CV.

One Redditor commented: "Honestly, at a certain point it became her fault for not double checking her resume each time she submitted it.

"This is called not having "an attention to detail"."

Another commented: "Gotta be honest, I'm more interested in the nickname than the problem here...

"But seriously, you went to do a solid favor and a slight oversight might have turned into a costly mistake.

"Trust me, worse things will happen...and this will not seem like such a big deal after a little time passes.

"You will laugh about it in time. Like what if she lands the job of her dreams...that she never would have been looking for if the Banana Hammock resume' hadn't happened?

"These are the kind of screwups we learn from...so learn, be better, and do something special for her."

A third added: "That's an awesome name. I would say it's actually conceivable that she could have received a call back with that name because the fan of Friends resume screener in HR thought she was trying to be clever and standout."
