Whenever something goes wrong at work, at home or at my daughter’s school, I find myself in a frozen state, knowing what I have to do to fix the problem but afraid to take the next step because I know it will initiate change.
Depending on how wise and informed my “repair job” is, I could land on my feet or flat on my face.
Which is why I waste precious time living in denial trying to find an easy alternative – a short cut...a way to fix things as painlessly as possible.
But temporary fixes are just that. They are trouble and they only hold the dam back for a little while before they give way to disaster – mega disaster.
So as I put on my work gloves and wince and moan and groan, I always tell myself that change is inevitable. It’s better to rip off the bandage than to peel it off one painful bit after the other.
Yes, I’ll end up with a sore patch in my life but with time. It will heal, Things will go back to normal and, most importantly, time will have passed.
My daughters will be a year older, the stressful project at work will be over and the lawmakers will have passed that one crucial law. On the other side, the pasture may be a bit bluer than it is green but it will be green all the same.
Every dog has its day so things won’t always be grey and dark for you. The sun will come out tomorrow so stick up your chin and grin. Clear away the cobwebs and the sorrow...till there’s none. Tomorrow is only a day away...
Yeah, for a minute there, I was about to break into song and dance in the office...so I’d better end this with these words. RIP OFF THE BANDAGE.
