Wales captain Sam Warburton will go for surgery after suffering a fractured cheekbone during Cardiff Blues' 13-16 defeat by Leinster at the Arms Park on Saturday.

According to BBC, Warburton took a heavy blow to the face from Josh van der Flier.

He is expected to have a plate inserted in his face, with the Blues hopeful he could return for them before the autumn internationals.

He usually plays as an openside flanker but is also capable of playing at blindside. In June 2011, he was named as Wales captain versus the Barbarians and subsequently in August 2011 he was named as the Wales captain for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
