Sponsorship: Military side sign deal with betting company

 Elitebet join sponsorship fray

Ulinzi Stars and betting firm Elitebet Kenya yesterday unveiled a multi-million sponsorship.

Although the amount involved was not disclosed, the two partners described the sponsorship as “open” but insisted it would cater for the club’s kitting and logistics. Speaking during the signing of the deal, Elitebet Kenya Managing Director Hinga Waiyaki said that they settled on Ulinzi because of their good and consistent performance as well as discipline and broad appeal.

“Ulinzi have unique attributes that are in line with our values making them a perfect fit for our firm’s business practice and corporate social responsibilities,” Waiyaki said.

He added: “We are in this for the long run. We decided to leave the sponsorship open and will be renewed annually so as to provide for the club whenever the need arises,” he said.

Kenya Defence Forces Football Association Chairman Brigadier Muthuri Kiugu assured Elitebet that they will manage the funds well.

“We will handle the sponsorship money with transparency and accountability. Rest assured that we will not mismanage the funds.”

Elitebet Kenya is the fourth betting firm to sponsor local clubs.
