Brigid Kosgei defended her world marathon title on Sunday and went on to win the London Marathon women’s race.
Kosgei, 26, finished the race in two hours, 18 minutes and 58 seconds.
Last year, Kosgei set a new world record at the Chicago marathon beating former title holder Paula Radcliffe.
The London Marathon had been scheduled for April 2020 but was postponed as the coronavirus pandemic ravaged the world. It was held at St James’ Park on a damp gloomy day with many fans watching virtually.
American Sara Hall came in second with a time of 2:22.01 while Ruth Chepng'etich took third place with 2:22.05?.
