Multi Media University finished last as Telkom Orange won the 2012 Kenya Hockey Union (KHU) women’s National League.
Telkom Orange, which has a game to go against Mombasa Sports Club, thrashed Multi Media 7-0 to take their point tally to 42, four ahead of runners up Strathmore University who have 38 points, also with a game to go.
With imminent title in Orange’s drawers, they will have kept the league trophy for a decade and a half now.
Not lucky
Multi Media University women were not lucky in their second encounter against Kenyatta University who beat them 3-1, a loss that ensured they remained stuck at the bottom of the league with no point.
However, Multi Media men University men were a lucky lot as they beat Kenya Polytechnic 3-1 to jump to third position with 35 points in the KHU men’s National League standings at the weekend.
Duke Onatrio, Allan Simiyu and Tony Keya gave the students their goals in 16th, 38th and 43rd minutes. Tony Okongo netted Kenya Poly’s consolation goal in the tenth minute.
Kimathi University had an edge over Parklands with a 3-2 win to settle at fourth place 33 points.
Third goal
Joseph Nganga had a brace in the 47th and 63rd minutes before Kihoro Wambugu’s notched their third goal two minutes later to grant Kimathi University the victory. Parklands’ scorers were Fred Okeyo and Amritpal Suri.
Wazalendo edged Mombasa Sports Club 1-0 as Parkroad and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (Jkuat) battled to a 1-1 draw.
The clash pitting Blue Eaglets and Vikings and that of the United States International University Africa (Usiu-A) and Mvita Club ended in barren draws.
