Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has unveiled his Cabinet comprising of three women.

This comes after residents criticised a preliminary list he had unveiled about two weeks ago for allegedly not meeting the two-thirds gender rule.

Prof Nyong'o has nominated former MCA Beatrice Odongo to Sports, Culture, Gender and Youth Affairs docket, Judith Oluoch (Public Service, Office of the Governor) and Maryline Yanza Agwa to Water and Environment.

Initially, he had unveiled seven CEC nominees with only one woman. The seven nominees were Greg Ganda (Public Health and Sanitation), George Omondi Okong'o (Finance), Kennedy Hongo (Lands) and Salmon Orimba (Infrastructure, Energy and Public works).

Others were John Awiti (Education), Ken Onyango (Agriculture) and Farida Salim (Trade).

A resident filed a petition before the Employment and Labour Relations Court in Kisumu, seeking to have the list of CECs revoked.

He wanted the county assembly barred from vetting the CEC nominees until the governor meets

But Nyong'o said forming a government was a process and not an event.

However, a section of the residents have commended the governor for nominating more women to the Cabinet.
