How to nail block-colour style

Fashion and Beauty

Not sure how to block your brights without looking like you’ve wrestled with a box of Crayolas? Just follow these easy style rules

Block colour is a hot trend this spring and who better than Victoria Beckham to take your inspiration from this season?

The singer-turned-fashion-designer knows how to clash bold hues, without looking like a children's TV presenter and has been wowing us with some of her pieces from her collection.

So if you want to brighten up your wardrobe, we show you how to take the leap and block your brights in a stylish way. Here are four outfit ideas from the high street for you to try.

1. Break things up

Update your work wardrobe with a subtle flash of colour

If head-to-toe colour blocking isn’t for you, use a graphic print to break things up a little. A strong pattern will act as a great foundation, then add clothes and accessories that match, rather than clash.

2. Clash bold tones

Jumper is available in other rainbow hues too

It may be tempting to pare back a bright coat with neutral tones, but how about a bolder approach? Bright blue – like this coat – works well with other primary tones, like zesty oranges and ochre yellows.

3. Colour contrast

Try popping on a pair of contrasting mustard heels

If you find it hard styling colourful separates, invest in a bright dress. A flattering design, with ruching around the waist and a longer sleeve, is a staple piece every woman should own.

4. Different shades
