John Legend breaks silence over wife Chrissy Teigen's bullying scandal

Chrissy Teigen recently said she was "ashamed" over the vile tweets she had sent to Courtney Stodden in the past.

She broke a month's silence on social media to issue a grovelling apology to Courtney and others who have been affected by her trolling, describing her comments as "insecure and immature".

In an emotional post, Chrissy said there was "simply no excuse for her past horrible tweets", and she says she is no longer the person who she was in the past when she wrote those tweets.

And now her husband John Legend has insisted she is "doing great" amid the bullying scandal.

Asked by TMZ how his wife was doing, he said: "She's doing great."

Chrissy admits being married to John and having their kids - Luna, five, and Miles, three - among other things including therapy, have helped her change as a person.

She wrote: "The truth is, I’m no longer the person who wrote those horrible things. I grew up, got therapy, got married, had kids, got more therapy, experienced loss and pain, got more therapy and experienced more life. AND GOT MORE THERAPY.

"Life has made me more empathetic. I’m more understanding of what motivates trolling - the instant gratification that you get from lashing out and clapping back, throwing rocks at someone you think is invincible because they’re famous.

"Also, I know now how it feels to be on the receiving end of incredible vitriol. Believe me, the irony of this is not lost on me," she added in the lengthy post.

Chrissy told fans that her and John regularly preach kindness to their children, but she realises there's "some hypocrisy there".

"John tells me almost every day how much our daughter Luna reminds him of me," she writes.

"Every day, I try to make sure she’s all the best parts of me, all the things I aspire to be all the time, but fail at sometimes. And we preach kindness to her and Miles every chance we get. Will they eventually realise there is some hypocrisy there? I certainly do."

Chrissy was criticised for her past tweets, including one where she told the American reality star to kill themselves in 2011, to take their own life and also to "go to sleep forever".
