Kenya’s funny girl Elsa States Majimbo has won the E! People’s Choice Award 2020. Elsa scooped the award in the African Social Star 2020 category.
The 19-year-old is known for her relatable satirical monologues while she eats her potato crisps. Her videos have since gone viral, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, she has been a real source of entertainment on social media.
She could not hide her excitement as she thanked her fans on social media saying she could not have done it without all their love and votes:

The E! People’s Choice Awards, for the second time in its history once again opened a category dedicated to Africa: African Social Star of 2020, with eight contenders in the running.
From the African Social Star category, Elsa saw off the likes of social media star and model Karl Kugelmann; rapper, actress and poet Sho Madjozi; International Emmy Award nominee and actress Thuso Mbedu; magician and TikTok star Wian van den Berg and reigning Miss Universe Zozi Tunzi, all from South Africa. Nigerian YouTube phenomenon Dimma Umeh and African Movie Academy Award winning actress Lydia Forson from Ghana were also in the list.
Elsa’s videos have become a global sensation and she recently bagged a deal with Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty to showcase their sunglasses. She has also she has received recognition from a number of international celebrities like Steve Harvey who retweeted one of her videos and Snoop Dogg who shared her Instagram reel that garnered over 12 million views.
