GROOM: Dennis Kamau Njenga

(manager to Kenyan rapper Rabbit)

DATE: April 23, 2016

GUESTS: 400

VENUE: Brookhaven Gardens

BUDGET: More than one million shillings

PHOTO SHOOT: Brookhaven Gardens

FIRST DATE:

DENNIS AND BRENDA: We met through a mutual friend but had our first date the following week upon introduction sometime back in 2013. At the time, hanging out at Westgate was the in thing so we went there for ice cream then moved to Java for coffee in the evening.

THE PROPOSAL:

BRENDA: He proposal was amazing even given the fact that it took him three years of dating before he surprised me. We travelled to Naivasha for the weekend and on the second night there, he popped the big question with all the hotel staff singing along...it was a major surprise! It is something that still lingers in my memory to date and makes me smile whenever I think about it. DENNIS: Although initially she appeared to be in shock, that led to me thinking that she would perhaps turn down my proposal. But then after a few minutes of silence accompanied by a serious face – she said a big yes... before she could let in a big beautiful smile.

THE DRAMA

DENNIS: We are lucky that everything went on smoothly with no hitches nor any kind of drama owing to the fact that we were well organised. We had a strategy way ahead of our wedding. BRENDA: Our parents were very cooperative and supportive of our wedding plans. For some reason, I can only attribute it to God since we did not expect everything else to run smoothly and according to our plans.

ADVICE

DENNIS: The fact that we were each other’s best friend, confidant and keeper tightened our bond including the relationship we shared that later culminated into marriage.

BRENDA: It is therefore important for young couples aspiring to marry to put prayer first. Also avoid letting your temper loose. It is usually a stressful period that requires patience, perseverance, understanding and above all seeking God’s face.

DENNIS AND BRENDA: Whenever we were faced with challenges in our relationship we would often make it a point talk candidly with each other besides finding ways of solving issues amicably by not allowing things affecting our relationship to drag on for a long time.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

DENNIS AND BRENDA: The fact that the wedding went on smoothly as planned. We managed to beat the deadline on the time of the wedding to the reception. Our guests had lots of time to sample from the unique cake made by experienced chefs from Brookhaven among other niceties, drinks and not to mention complete entertainment by some of the local leading artists among them Avril, Bahati and emcees Owago Nyiro and Obinna and Empire Deejays.

THE HONEYMOON

BRENDA: It was one of the best and still remains the most memorable moments of our lives. With unique, quite serene places like Maasai Mara and all the way to Rwanda - it is something that comes once in a lifetime.
