On Wednesday 1st November, the Board of Directors of KenGen confirm Rebecca Miano as the Managing director and CEO of the company. KenGen is a state-owned company and the leading power producing Company in Kenya. It produces about 80% of the power consumed by companies. Rebecca has been the interim CEO of the company since August 2016. She took up the position after the departure of the company’s former CEO, Albert Mugo.
Rebecca, a professional lawyer joined KenGen 1998. She has held different positions in the organization since then which include: senior legal officer of the company and company’s legal affairs director among others.
According to a statement issued by the company’s chair Joshua Choge, the board is confident Mrs Miano’s skills and wealth of experience, having worked in the company for the past 19 years, will help drive KenGen forward and position it as a leader in the energy sector.
Mrs. Rebecca is one of the only two women who lead parastals in Kenya, the other only woman being Maryanne Mwangi CEO of National oil corporation of Kenya. Mrs. Rebbeca, a member of the Law Society of Kenya and also a member of Institute Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. Among her many achievements is that in 2010, She was awarded with the Order of The Grand Warrior of Kenya.
