Tomato, a nutrient dense superfood is one of the most used ingredients in our culinary dishes whether cooked or raw.

Packed with nutrients your body needs, it is no wonder tomatoes are effective when it comes to skin treatments too.

Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, it works like magic when it comes to getting rid of sun damage, uneven skin tone and aging related problems.

If you have been looking for a natural cure to your skin problems, tomatoes are the answer.

So, without taking up much of your time let us look at some of the benefits using tomatoes on your skin has:

  • Remove dead skin

When you use tomato juice, instant coffee powder and sugar to make a paste, this will work as an exfoliator to deeply cleanse your skin and get rid of blackheads and dead skin accumulated over time.

This also works best for people with sensitive skin and are prone to breakouts because it is mild on your skin while maintaining its effectiveness.

  • Reduces oiliness

Oily skin can be such a problem especially if you have a full-face beat and the heat is on full blast melting your makeup away. You constantly have to blot the oil from your face and there is the acne issue you have to battle with every other time.

To combat excess production and balance the pH, cut a tomato into half and rub it all over your clean face then leave it for about 20 minutes giving it time to dry up.

Wash it off with warm water then repeat this until you reach your desired results.

  • Natural brightness

If you’re unhappy with the dull state of your skin tomatoes will correct that. Due to its richness in vitamins, antioxidants and astringent properties, they act as a natural skin bleaching agent.

Make a paste from the juice of a full tomato, a tiny amount of turmeric and some sandal wood powder. Apply it on your face then leave it to dry before washing it off with warm water.

Before you know it, your face will become radiant reducing the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation.

  • Tightens pores

Large open pores could be the cause of your acne because they attract dirt and dust which is trapped in your follicles leading to breakouts.

By simply rubbing a tomato directly on your face the pesky whiteheads that pop up from clogged pores will be greatly reduced.

Let the juice sit on your face for 20 minutes so it can saturate and be absorbed then wash it off with lukewarm water.

  • Helps with irritation

Most of us have at one point suffered the negative effects of hair products that came into contact with our face, or skincare products that had an ingredient we were allergic to but didn’t know or even just makeup.

Either one of this can cause irritation casing our skin to flareup. To help restore the calm, make a paste using tomato juice and fresh cucumber juice. The anti-inflammatory properties in both will help reduce irritation almost instantly.

Leave it on for 20 minutes then rinse it off with warm water. Do this daily until the irritation clears.
