Pumwani Maternity Hospital has received 65 modern hospital beds from the Nairobi County Government.
One ward at the busy healthcare facility was also renovated over the Easter weekend.
Governor Mike Sonko said the initiative was aimed at decongesting crowded wards and ensuring patients benefited from fast service deliver.
The development comes weeks after the county government, in collaboration with the United Kingdom, launched the first regional human milk bank at the hospital.
County Nutrition Coordinator Esther Kwamboka said the milk, which would be pasteurised, packaged and stored for up to six months, would help babies who were intolerant to cow milk
