A student recently died at Maasai Mara University after collapsing in one of the hostels.
Julius Ondigo , a first year student at the College of Education developed difficulty in breathing at around 6am just after visiting the washroom.
“He developed difficulty in breathing and collapsed. We called the security who helped us rush him to the clinic, but he died soon afterwards,” said a room-mate.
“He was full of life, we even went for games yesterday, said a colleague,” adding that he died even before the nurses could administer any form of treatment.
A memo from University Dean of Students Justus Wesonga read in part:
“We have learnt with deep sorrow the sudden death of Otieno Ondigo Julius REG NO EB04/SR/MN/1383/2016, who was until his death a first year student taking a degree course,” read the statement.
The body was later taken to his rural home in Suba, Homa Bay County.
