I joined the University of Nairobi in 2007 for a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine, but I did an inter-faculty transfer to study Communication, Literature and Sociology.

My literature class was the dopest! We were few and thus built a very close bond. My favourite lecturers were Prof Henry Indangasi, Prof Okoth Okombo and Dr Maloba Wekesa. Dr Maloba taught my favourite unit, Principles of Persuasion.

Gunning for political post as a fresher was laughable. I sought to represent the Faculty of Arts, the largest at UoN. But with the help of fellow first years, I won. That was God.

I became Sonu chair in my second year, we made history.

I made my first coin anchoring sports news at Hot 96 FM and hosting a political show –The Hot Seat every Thursday. Working while studying was challenging: I left for work at 5am daily, read news, rushed to class by 8am and sometimes returned to work. That instilled hard work. Campus was fun. I also enjoyed Sabbath Vespers with fellow Adventists. We built friendships and relationships; some of which have lasted while others faded along the way.

David Osiany graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2011. He is an aspirant for the Rongo parliamentary seat, Migori County.
