How long should you wait for Love?

Relationships

I’ve never been one to believe in the façade of true love, love at first site, soul mates and other lies people tell themselves to justify simple feelings.

I mean, some people will tell you they finally have true love every single time they meet a guy who treats them like a queen for a few months, and when things go down a hole, suddenly, they were wrong and he’s a douche!!! Then they meet another guy and he’s the One too!!!

I believe in love, I believe you can love more than one person, I just don’t believe in the concept of true love, love at first site or soul mates, but of recent, I found myself in a situation where I believe that if you want something with someone to work, then work at it, that’s how it will work, not because “It was love at first site”, not because “ you are soul mates” and certainly not because “it is true love”, like what I feel for Chocolate fudge cake, IS TRUE LOVE!

So, I have this friend, she’s beautiful, ambitious, on her way to greater things, she has a lot of what most of us would want, from what everyone sees, all she’s missing is a man to match her stature.

After a long while of speculation, from our circle of friends, myself included, about who she’ll end up with, because a lot of guys have tried, believe me when I say, they have tried, but she keeps saying they’re not what she is looking for, she finally told me why they never seem to satisfy her.

Turns out, she had a guy in mind the whole time, she was in love with one guy, and she’d been in love with one guy, the whole time.  Not that she was alone waiting for one guy to show up, naah, she had that guy she always knew was hers, she always knew she had him.

While everyone looked at her as that girl who never settled down, who always had guys around but never could choose one, that girl who played guys, (which by the way is not true), and the girl who would never hold down a guy. Now the boss lady, finally got her guy, and I think they are happy, they seem happy, and I feel jealous now.

See, I was first amongst our friends to cast stones saying she’ll end up lonely cause she held on to false hope and dead dreams. I’m not saying every one ends up like that, but, who exactly are we to judge those who feel that way. Maybe if we changed our perception we might just end up living our version of that.
