8am: Roads closure

Security agents clear up roads around the University of Nairobi, Waiyaki way, Forest Road, Limuru Road and Marine choppers and GOK choppers patrol city centre.

This is seen as preparations for US President’s departure to the UN headquarters in Gigiri where he is to address the Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Saturday morning closure: No access of Westlands from CBD from University Way roundabout. Those headed for Westlands are advised to use Muranga Road and Parklands or Ringroad.

Forest Road and Limuru Road and UN Road will be be closed all day.

From 11am to 3pm, access to Haileselassie Avenue, Tom Mboya, Moi Avenue, Harambee Avenue and Landhies Road will be prohibited as well as access to Railways bus stop.

Kenyatta Avenue, State House and Between University Way and Westlands will be cordoned off from 3pm to 11pm.

9am

Marine Chopper has landed at University of Nairobi grounds. Many cops sighted at the city centre.

9.30am

Being a historic moment for Kenya, there was a feeling that Barack Obama’s entourage would be made a tour attraction.

Others praised the transformation between Obama’s tour of Kenya when he came to search for his roots years back and the Beast ride during his tour as president.

Obama announces that three women entrepreneurship centres will be opened in Africa; one in Nairobi by the end of this year as well as in Zambia and Mali.  This is seen as an effort to support women entrepreneurs whom he referred to as Powerhouse entrepreneurs.

Obama and co-host Uhuru walk out of the summit after introducing entrepreneurs to the 6th Global Entrepreneuship Summit.
