The former U.S President and First Lady celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on October 3rd. To commemorate the spectacular moment of their lives, they both took to social media to share sweet love messages.

First was Barack who shared a photo of Michele looking out the window of a plane accompanying it with a message about their lives together.

"Happy Anniversary, @MichelleObama. For 26 years, you’ve been an extraordinary partner, someone who can always make me laugh, and my favorite person to see the world with," he wrote.

Michelle’s response was equally sentimental as she appreciated Barack for being her treasure.

Thank you @barackobama for 26+ years of love, trust, and respect - for being a man who always lifts up and honors me and our wonderful girls. Each day I’m with you, I’m reminded of what a treasure you truly are to us all. https://t.co/dfgJRMyWJj

Their 26th wedding anniversary comes after two children, two terms in the White House and two years of political retirement for Barack.

For Barack’s 57th birthday, Michelle shared a similar photo to the one Barack used for their anniversary; it showed him starring into a valley with a caption, “Happy birthday Barack Obama! The view is always better with you”

Barack and Michelle met in 1989 while studying in Chicago. Talking about their first date, a day-long outing which included a long walk and a movie, Michelle said - “We clicked right away, by the end of the date, it was over…I was sold.” Barack proposed two years later while they were out to dinner to celebrate finishing the bar exam.

You can’t tell it from this photo, but Barack woke up on our wedding day in October, 1992 with a nasty head cold. Somehow, by the time I met him at the altar, it had miraculously disappeared and we ended up dancing almost all night. Twenty five years later, we’re still having fun, while also doing the hard work to build our partnership and support each other as individuals. I can’t imagine going on this wild ride with anybody else.
