For any man, approaching a woman with the intent of initiating a romantic relationship is nerve-wracking.

But there is a category of men that have it worse than the rest; short men. Nothing causes dating apprehensiveness in men quite like being short! Most aspects in a man’s dating life can be worked on and improved on.

A man’s height, sadly, is something he is stuck with. Most women are unreasonably hang up on height when it comes to selecting a partner, and use it to gauge their attraction to a man. Taller men are deemed more dominant and assertive, traits that are desirable in a man.

However, that does not mean that short men are doomed to a sexless life because, as they say, good things come in small packages. You just need to impress a woman with your strengths. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the dating scene as a short man:

Aim to be physically good looking

Celebrities like Daniel Radcliffe and Bruno Mars are always included in those ‘world hottest’ lists, yet they both stand at a mere 5 feet 5 inches. This is because they look good physically. If you are short, sorry to say, you are at a disadvantage.

You will need to put in a lot of work in your physical looks to make up for your lack of height. Lose those extra pounds, pack on some muscle to build an athletic physique, dress sharply and always be impeccably groomed. Women will be more willing to look past the height if you are ripped and always dressed in crisp, clean and well-fitted clothing.

Cultivate a commanding presence

You don’t require a great height to be that man that everyone notices when he steps into a room. Even as a short man, you have the ability to fill a room and command every woman’s attention and affection. Be the kind of man a woman remembers even if your interaction was just a minute long.

The secret to having a commanding presence is confidence, having a convincing posture, making eye contact and positive body movement. Stand tall, look people in the eye and move with a smooth, bouncy stride.

Drop the ‘short man attitude’

There is nothing as unattractive as a bitter short man. So what if you have been called a dwarf, a midget or labelled vertically challenged? So what if you have been dismissed by countless women who said you are not their ‘type’ before even getting to know your name?

The worst thing you can do for your love life is adopt a victim mentally. The more you let your height (or lack it) bother you, the more women will reject you. If you convince yourself that no woman will ever be attracted to you because of your height, it will become a self-fulfilling prophesy. You will even stop approaching women because you will start assuming in advance that they are going to reject you. Fake that confidence until you make it.

Give up online dating

As a short man, you will be better off looking for love the traditional way. The thing with online dating is that revealing your height is kind of mandatory and you have the option of either telling the truth and be dismissed immediately or lie and be dismissed at first sight, besides being labelled a lying jerk.

At least with real life dating, the woman can get a chance to see your well-toned body and feel your overpowering presence, and maybe decide to give you a chance.
