When lady Gaga donned the priceless Tiffany diamond back in 2019 for the Oscars, we loved it and we all talked about it.

But when the Queen Bee herself shared photos and on her neck was this 143-year-old diamond, it became a big deal.

Social media has been abuzz with everyone talking about the famous diamond and wanting to know more about it.

Why is it a big deal?

To begin with, this yellow diamond is amongst the largest diamonds in the world weighing over 200 carats and was discovered in South Africa, 1878.

This diamond was then shaped and cut into a cushion shape, that has since maintained its rare form and now weighs 128.54 carats and maintains its yellow natural colour.

It was not until 2012 when Tiffany&Co celebrated their 175th anniversary and reset it with over 100 carats of white diamonds.

Since its discovery, this diamond has been worn by only four women in history and Beyoncé being the first black woman.

At first, the diamond was only put out for special exhibitions until in 1957, when socialite Mrs E. Sheldon Whitehouse wore this priceless diamond to a Tiffany ball.

Next in line was actress Audrey Hepburn in 1961, when she donned this diamond wrapped in a Jean Schlumberger’s Ribbon Rosette for promotional photos.

It was not until 2019, 58 years later, did Lady Gaga appear again in this famous diamond for the annual Academy awards.

And now, just two years on, Beyoncé flaunted photos of herself blinged in this yellow diamond necklace with her husband Jay Z for their new campaign with Tiffany & Co.
