Tanzanian superstar Harmonize whose real name is Rajab Kahali has not had the easiest time finding true love and making it stick.
His has been a journey that has included dating incredibly gorgeous women, some- stars in their own right, but only months later going through yet another public break up.
We take a look at the singer’s rocky love life.
His two month relationship with actress Fridah Kajala
Last week, the Konde Music Worlwide CEO attracted lots of attention when he made some unexpected attempts to get his ex- girlfriend, Fridah Kajala back.
He reportedly spent over Sh 500, 000 on a billboard bearing an image of the two in happier days, and a huge spelling out of the word ‘lovers’ on it.
The Kwa Ngwaru singer disclosed in an interview that he blew millions of Tanzanian shillings on the public display because he is confident that his chances of getting Kajala back are high, despite how bad their split was. And it was bad.
The two announced that they are together on Valentine’s Day this year, had a passionate love affair, but had broken up two months later.
Kajala, a lusicous, caramel coloured Bongo movie actress with a curvy hourglass frame is an enviable woman to have on anyone’s arm.
When they started off, Harmonize did not hold back expressing just how in love they were on his social media.
As he introduced his new 'bae' to the world via social media, Harmonize wrote; “Welcome to the United States of Kondegang Kondebeden and Fridakamala. Loyalty, promise to be there for you.”
The couple then documented a vacation to Zanzibar with photos by the beach uploaded on social media, basking in their new found love.
The two were so smitten that they got matching tattoos of each other’s initials.
But it all ended so fast, the public didn’t even get to adjust to the new power couple.
There were disturbing reports that Kajala threw her singer 'bae' out after discovering that he was interested in her 19 year old socialite daughter, Paula.
Things took a bad turn when the singer sued his ex-girlfriend and her daughter for ‘leaking photos of him in a compromising situation.’
Ugandan blog Routine Blast reports that Kajala and her daughter were arrested and questioned before being released.
“I have forgiven Kajala and Paula because I don’t want any court cases. I have made the decision, so life moves on. So I don’t want to hear anything about the matter,” he later told Tanzanian magazine Ijumaa.
Now, as he attempts to win her back, Harmonize is not holding back on social media.
He recently uploaded a photo of himself holding a red bouquet, and captioned it “Love you Frida take me back.”
His 8.1 million Instagram followers had a field day with the post, filling his comment section with their various opinions. Some told him that he is crazy to think Kajala will take him back, while some cheered him on.
He persisted on his social media pages, where he promised to get along with the singer Rayvanny, who is reportedly dating Fridah’s daughter Paula.
“We will be travelling every day and have a happy life. Everyone will be jealous. Imagine Vanny boy (Rayvanny) will be my son and no one will play with his music and career again. Pray for me, pray for her to come back,” he wrote.
Kajala has not publicly responded to her ex’s attempts (yet?).
But before begging for Kajala back, Harmonize had a Mzungu 'bae'
If Harmonize is having any trouble getting Kajala back, perhaps it’s because he is chasing her barely weeks after ending another relationship.
The Happy Birthday singer was seeing an Australian lady, Briana Jai.
He showed off Briana to the world for the first time in November 2021. He dramatically unfollowed everyone he previously did on Instagram, and in what may have been a major statement followed Briana only.
Posting an image of himself with his new lover, Harmonize wrote: “Been waiting for this moment to tell everybody what you mean to me! I just wanna love you in this life and respect every woman! Like sister, friend, auntie, mum. Promise to be there for you for lifetime. Welcome to my world queen.”
He explained to those he had unfollowed that “I just wanna follow the woman of my life so do not feel like I do not love and respect you after unfollowing, you mean a lot to my life.”
But the relationship, which included travelling around the United States and Dubai as well as glossy social media posts by the two came to an end only four months after it was made public.
Taking to his Instagram account last month, the singer revealed that a number of reasons led to the split- but a major one was that he was still in love with his ex, Kajala.
“Kuhusu Briana sina Tatizo nae kabisa, she is a nice person ila hatuko pamoja reason number nilimwambia nimetengana na mtu bila kugombana na nampenda sana sasa sina uhakika kama nimemove on lolote linaweza kutokea maana,” he wrote in a statement, acknowledging that he had been unsure about his feelings for his ex and wishing Briana well.
Briana also confirmed on her social media forums that the two were over, sending her Tanzanian fans love and wishing her ex the best in life.
The split came after the singer posted a series of cryptic posts in which he said he was “unhappy” and “missing someone.”
Harmonize is single for over half a year
Before he got together with the petite Caucasian Briana, Harmonize was fully living the single life.
He had been alone for 7 months and was not linked to anyone romantically.
But perhaps the Bongo star needed some ample time to heal, because before the long single stint, he was a married man.
Harmonize and his Italian wife Sarah Michelotti
The couple were together for four years, and served couple goals the entire time.
Together, they were fashionable, attractive and unstoppable.
Harmonize had some of his biggest hits so far while with Sarah, and the two appeared to be thriving, even getting reportedly married two years into their romance.
But everything came tumbling down when Sarah revealed that the two would be parting ways due to infidelity.
Taking to her Instagram account, the Tanzania- based Italian model said that the split was hurtful as her husband had cheated on her and even sired a child with another woman.
“Niliolewa na wewe sababu nilikupenda, ulikuwa kila kitu kwangu na nilikuchagua kama ulivyokuwa na nikakupa mapenzi yangu yote na nilijitahidi kukupa furaha ambayo wewe hukuweza kunipatia. Siku baada ya siku nimekuja kugundua kuwa upo tofauti kabisa na huna adabu kwa mtu yeyote,” Sarah wrote, accusing her former partner of being inconsiderate and unappreciative.
Harmonize later apologised for his transgressions, writing: “Sorry sorry and sorry. Sorry is the only word I can use to the one beautiful woman who gave me four years of her life and I the same.”
Before being married, there was a long term love with Bongo actress Jacqueline Wolper
The two broke up in 2017, and the break up was as messy as it gets.
Wolper went on to claim that the singer was broke when the two dated, making it known that she had been a big part of his early success as she had been by his side as he launched his first album.
“I remember he even applied his body with shower gel, but I corrected him and told him it is used for showering. I went to his home and slept on the floor and his mother is a witness,” Wolper told Tanzanian media soon after Harmonize's break up with Sarah in 2020.
And Wolper’s relationship with Sarah had been catty and strained. The latter accussed Wolper of still texting and trying to get back with Harmonize sometime around 2018.
