Uhuru, Raila allies land top positions in Ruto government

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga continue to reap from President William Ruto’s appointments.

Former Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria and a former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth are the latest entrants into Ruto’s government.

Raila’s right hand man Joe Ager and his confidant Prof Adams Oloo have also landed state jobs.

Iria will now chair the Public Procurement Regulatory Board while Kenneth was picked as chairman of the Kenya Bureau of Standards’ National Standards Council.

Ager will serve in Ruto’s Council of Economic Advisors alongside Oloo and Major (Rtd) Ali Mahat Somane.

President Ruto also appointed former Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow as Consulate of Kenya in Haiti. Gabow was also the coordinator of Peace Keeping Mission in Haiti.

According to Principal Administrative Secretary of Public Service Arthur Osiya, the appointments were made based on recommendations of the Public Service Commission.

“The appointments within the Executive Office of the President aim to strengthen the team supporting the Head of State and Government in executing their significant mandate,” said Osiya.

Ruto also appointed Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the deputy governor of Central Bank of Kenya while Douglas Murei will now be the Chief Executive officer at Central Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency.

Bruno Oguda has been appointed as the Managing Director for East African Portland Cement Company (EAPCC).

President Ruto also appointed three former principal secretaries and a former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner to the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Former PS Mary Wanjira Kimonye was appointed as the new vice-chairperson of the commission. Others include former PSs Mwanamaka Amani Mabruki and Dr Francis Otieno who worked during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration as PSs for Devolution and Youth Affairs respectively.
