Ruto forms a 20-member team to audit healthcare resources

President William Ruto has established a 20-member task force to audit resources in the health sector.

In a Gazette Notice dated July 5, Ruto highlighted the importance of this task force in enhancing healthcare services in the country by formulating strategies and policies concerning healthcare human resources.

The committee will be chaired by Professor Khama Rogo, with Judith Guserwa serving as vice-chairperson.

 Other notable members include Acting Ministry of Health Director General Dr. Patrick Amoth, Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Deputy Secretary General Dr. Dennis Miskellah, and Justina Wamae, a political aspirant in 2022.

Additional members are Dr. John Masasabi, Dr. Toseef Din, Dr. Wilson Aruasa, Doreen Kanyua, Prof. Francis Wafula, Dr. Habiba Mohamed, Lucy Mburu, Collins Kiprono, Victor Miseda, Christine Okoth, Carolyne Mage, Jacinta Rwamba, Dr. Kanyenje Gakombe, Dr. Moses Mukhwana, and Benard Choi.

According to the President, the task force is charged with reviewing the performance of human resources in the health sector, advising on and recommending a framework for the same, and establishing terms for all healthcare workers.

To support its operations, Dr. Edna Kimaiyo and Morris Kaburu have been appointed as joint secretaries, while Dr. Hezron Omollo and Vivienne Eyesa will serve as the task force’s secretariat.

The task force will operate for six months.
