Covid-19 positivity rate at 3.7 per cent as infections up by 193

Kenya’s Covid-19 positivity rate is now at 3.7 per cent after one hundred and ninety-three people tested positive for the disease today, from 5,207 samples conducted in last 24 hours.

Total confirmed cases are now 321,111 and 3,211,810 tests conducted since the onset of the disease.

Eleven patients have also succumbed to the disease, “all being late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in December last year and January,” Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said in a statement.

The Covid-19 death toll now stands at 5,578.

Another 1,018 patients have recovered from the disease, with nine hundred and twenty-four discharged from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while ninety-four were discharged from various health facilities across the country.

Total recoveries now stand at 294,035.

The CS added that some five hundred and forty-eight patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide. Twenty patients are in the ICU and one in the HDU.

Kenya has so far administered 11.8 million vaccines countrywide, with 19.4 per cent of the adult population fully vaccinated.

The Government says it is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27.2 million.
