The Ministry of Health (MoH) on Thursday announced 780 new coronavirus infections from a sample pool of 6,158 tested in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, 10 patients have succumbed to the disease raising the country’s death toll to 1,427.
The new infections push the country’s caseload to 80,102 and the total number of samples tested so far to 861,561.
Health CS Mutahi Kagwe (pictured) said from the cases 754 are Kenyans and 26 foreigners. 460 are males and 320 are females.
The youngest is a one-year-old baby, while the oldest is 94 years old.
So far, 1,232 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,295 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.
57 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); 32 of those are on ventilatory support while 20 are on supplemental oxygen.
Another 109 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen out of whom 58 are in the general wards and 24 are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The distribution of the new cases by Counties is as follows; Nairobi 273, Kiambu 93, Mombasa 86, Busia 85, Nakuru 40, Turkana 32, Uasin Gishu 20, Kilifi 16, Meru 13, Kajiado 13, Kericho 13, Kisumu 11, Nandi 10, Taita Taveta 9, Murang’a 8, Laikipia 8, Nyeri 8, Bomet 7, Trans Nzoia 7, Kwale 4, Makueni 4, Machakos 3, Embu 3, Homa Bay 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Tana River 2, Samburu 1, Baringo 1, Garissa 1, Nyamira 1, Marsabit 1, Kitui 1, Siaya 1 and Isiolo 1.
In terms of Sub County Distribution; the 273 cases in Nairobi, are from Lang’ata (43), Dagoretti North (40), Westlands (23), Kibra and Ruaraka (17) cases each, Starehe (16), Kamukunji and Roysambu (15) cases each, Kasarani (14), Dagoretti South, Embakasi West and Makadara (11) cases each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North and Mathare (9) cases each, Embakasi East (8) and Embakasi South (5).
The total number of recoveries so far has risen to 53,526 after 552 people recovered from the disease.
468 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 84 have been discharged from various hospitals.
