It was not business as usual on Monday night at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as there was a push and pull between police officers and citizens who had arrived to welcome Miguna Miguna back from Canada. Miguna, had been deported to Canada on February 6th and returned to the country on Monday at 2:30 pm.

The outspoken lawyer was however not cleared from the airport and that being a matter of public interest, journalists were on the ground to cover the event. This is how KTN’s Sophia Wanuna ended up in a mayhem at the airport.

Police officers became violent to journalists covering the event and Sophia, who seemingly was the only female journalist wasn’t spared. She was roughed up and her voice was evidently shaky from the incident as she continued covering the event:

Citizen’s senior reporter Steven Letoo was also caught up in the hullabaloo and injured.

Sophia took to her twitter account this morning to assure her fans that she is doing just fine.

I thank you all for the kind messages ... we are okay ... The assault meted out against journalists, is unacceptable.
