Louis seems to be really enjoying his painting! (Image: Instagram)

Prince Louis looked the perfect angelic prince in a series of new photos shared by mum the Duchess of Cambridge to celebrate his second birthday.

Many parents were probably left wondering how an earth she managed to get a two-year-old to do hand painting without covering himself - and everything around him - in it.

But it turns out, he did.

Kate shared a hilarious Instagram v Reality picture on the official Kensington Palace social media pages, and it's proof that arts and crafts time in the Cambridge household isn't much different to ours.

The second snap shows Louis with a very cheeky grin on his face after wiping the paint all over his face.

The caption reads: "Instagram vs Reality.

"Thank you for all your lovely messages on Prince Louis’ second birthday!

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share new photographs of Prince Louis, taken by The Duchess this April."

All of the photos were taken in the grounds of the Anmer Hall, the family's Norfolk home, during the coronavirus lockdown.

They show a beaming Louis in a checked blue and white shirt, with his hair in a smart side parting and hands covered in paint.

His artwork resulted in a multi colored handprint, a nod to our NHS heroes, which has been proudly on display by parents William and Kate in the window of their Norfolk home.

Speaking to the BBC last week, Kate and William said they had been keeping very busy during the lockdown.

Kate said: "Children have got such stamina. I don't know how, honestly. You get to the end of the day and you write a list of all the things you've done in that day.

"You've pitched a tent, take the tent down again, cook, bake, you get to the end of the day and they've had a lovely time.

"It's amazing how much you can cram into one day, that's for sure."

Who do you wish would run for president?
