64-year-old Francoise Bettencourt Meyers finds herself the richest woman in the world following the death of her month this week.

The matriarch of founding family of giant L’Oreal cosmetics company Liliane Bettencourt died last week aged 91.

She was described as controversial icon, a socialite and clever businesswoman. But her daughter could be the opposite her mother’s figure who has been the principle shareholder of the French cosmetic company.

According to National Post Bettencourt has shown less interest in L’Oreal matters than her mother did.

Unlike her mother who loved lime light and enjoyed public attention,Bettencourt is rather a behind-the-scene-individual who has apparently been in the board of one of the richest companies in the world.

The book author and piano lover is described by author Tom Sancton as “lady living in a cocoon” has in previous years had strenuous and perhaps contentious relationship with her mother.

The $43.3 billion worth Bettencourt Meyers has authored two books about the Bible and Greek mythology and has almost successfully tried to avoid the spotlight
