Every woman dreams of having clear glowing skin without the help of make-up. While some women are lucky enough to have perfect skin with little to no effort, some have to spend a bit more time treating their faces for different problems like acne, oiliness, dryness and scarring, among others.
Below are five natural products you can use to treat these common skin problems naturally.
Turmeric
Turmeric has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which helps brighten dull skin, improve your complexion and lightening acne scars. It is a great natural treatment for dark circles and puffy eyes.
For acne breakouts, a combination of turmeric and apple cider will reduce the swelling and prevent formation of new breakouts. This combo is also a good toner. You can also mix turmeric and honey to get rid of blemishes.
Turmeric’s hydrating properties help soothe dry skin, quickly removing dead skin leaving you with softer, healthier skin.
Sandalwood
When in powder and paste form, sandalwood contains antibacterial, antiseptic and exfoliating properties which helps in the treatment of pimples and acne. This is done by getting rid of bacteria and carefully cleaning your pores.
Sandalwood also helps reduce wrinkles and makes you look younger. Oils from sandalwood powder help reduce dryness.
Red tomato
Tomato juice, when ingested or applied directly to your skin, will make your skin healthier. To get clean skin (and pores) mix a teaspoon of tomato juice with four or five drops of lemon juice, apply to your face and rinse with lukewarm water. This will help clear your skin.
Remove blackheads by rubbing tomato slices on the affected areas.
Tomatoes also help in preventing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They are acidic, a property which helps reduce and clear acne.
Natural yoghurt
A yoghurt face mask will gently exfoliate your skin. It will get rid of dead skin giving you a natural glow, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and prevent breakouts.
It also helps to moisturize your skin and reduce skin discolouration.
Lemon
Lemon has antibacterial properties which get rid of the bacteria that causes breakouts. Mix a few drops of lemon juice with a few drops of coconut water to brighten and hydrate your skin respectively.
Rubbing a slice of lemon on the affected areas after washing your face can help remove blackheads. Remember that concentrated lemon juice can be harsh on sensitive skin therefore leave it on your face for about 15 minutes and then wash it off.
If you have greasy skin, put a few drops of diluted lemon juice on a cotton pad and apply to freshly washed skin.
When trying out these remedies, try one at a time, allowing it time to show results. Jumping from one treatment to another can not only bring about worse breakouts but it will be harder for you to notice what does and doesn’t work for your skin. Remember that what works for one woman may not necessarily work for you because skin types are different and react differently to treatments.
