Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadegu has officially taken over the office of Minority Chief Whip.
Making the announcement yesterday, Mwadegu said he was out of the country when the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) appointed him to the position.
The Opposition coalition formally replaced Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro as National Assembly minority whip with his Wundanyi counterpart last month.
Through a letter dated July 23 to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Minority Leader Francis Nyenze said the decision was reached at CORD's parliamentary group meeting.
Yesterday, Mwadegu said he appreciated the opportunity to serve in that capacity.
"I believe I have what it takes. I congratulate Mung'aro for all his efforts and wish him well," he said yesterday.
