Marsabit, Kenya: CORD has sensationally accused the Government of being behind the raging insecurity situation in Marsabit County.

CORD said the clashes in the Northen Kenya county were politically instigated and orchestrated to undermine the existence, operations and authority of the local government with an intention to portray it as ungovernable and eventually declare a State of Emergency.

Addressing the Press at Orange House and flanked by Marsabit Governor Ukur Yattani, CORD claimed the current insecurity situation in Marsabit was an evident elaborate and politically engineered scheme to cause and perpetuate insecurity in the area and then turn around to blame it on the county government.

In a speech read by Tongran MP Eseli Simiyu, CORD said there were obvious cases where perpetrators of murder, destruction and violence were well known to those close to the Jubilee government but the State had chosen not to act.

“In the case of Marsabit, the situation has been worsened by an ulterior political agenda, which has the hand of the Jubilee administration,” CORD said. They also defended Mr Yattani’s county government.
