Kakamega High School are the 2024 Kakamega County rugby sevens champions.
Kakamega saw off archrivals St Peters Mumias 17-10 in the finals played in Mumias to end their 11-year wait for the county gong.
The relatively young Kakamega squad proved too strong to handle for St Peters Mumias as Bryson Makori, Austin Shummah, and Festus Iman scoring the three match winning tries, with Ryan Juma adding one conversion.
Kakamega eliminated Ingotse 19-5 in the quarterfinals before Saphan Tyron put up a man of the match performance in the semifinals when his four tries saw Kakamega thrash Musingu School 27-10.

“It’s been long coming and I want to congratulate the young boys for giving everything to the game and bringing the sevens title back home after a decade,” Kakamega High rugby coach Amos Wamanga said after their win.
“We have a young squad majorly made up of Form Ones and it is encouraging to see the great heights they can reach with little experience. This team will go places in the next years.”
Kakamega High will represent the county in the Western Regional finals alongside St Peters Mumias.
East Africa and national rugby sevens defending champions Koyonzo Secondary School who are also the Kakamega County ousted champions will also be at the regionals finals despite losing 14-0 to St Peters Mumias in the semis.
Four teams will qualify for the regionals and thus Koyonzo who are also the Western region defending champions given a life line alongside Musingu School.
