Kenya Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association says members who are not conversant with the rules risk losing membership.

This was resolved during the National Umpires Seminar at the Nairobi’s Pride Inn Hotel last week. It was regretted that some umpires and scorers don’t keep abreast with the rules of the game.

But majority had a very good day at the seminar as they enhanced their umpiring and scoring skills and the members felt it was a useful experience and it should be held annually to benefit umpires and scorers. The most important aspects covered were laws of cricket, playing conditions and finer points of umpiring, said Subhash Modi, the convenor of the seminar.

The seminar was attended by 33 members of the association and was graced by the former Kenya Captain, Aasif Karim, NPCA Chairman, Bipin Vora, NPCA Match Management Secretary, Sandeep Shah, and a former Kenya player Kennedy Obuya, sponsors and media.

Seminar main presenters were Subhash Modi, Lalji Bhudia, Rockie De Mello, Hannington Ochieng’, Shabbir Tayabali, David Odhiambo, Kutub Gulamabbas, Aasif Karim and Bipin Vora.

The association thanked its sponsors - Crown Berger, Kenafric Industries, KensMetals, Filmline, Osho Chemicals and supporters ICC, ICC Africa, Africa Cricket Association, Cricket Kenya, NPCA, CCA, RVCA and ICC Elite Panel Umpire, Tony Hill of New Zealand and management of Pride Inn Hotel.
