KCB to renew rivalry with Kabras Sugar in the Enterprise Cup final

KCB will renew rivalry with defending champions Kabras Sugar in the 2024 Enterprise Cup finals.

The bankers booked a spot in the final after coming from behind to knock out Kenya Harlequin 32-18 at KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka, Nairobi on Saturday.

At the same time, Kabras Sugar continued to show why they are the team to beat in the land after thumping Nondescripts 54-8 in the other semi-finals played at Kakamega Showgrounds in Kakamega.

This will be a repeat of last year's final which Kabras won to complete a three-peat.

In Kakamega, Barry Robinson stole the spotlight with a remarkable hat-trick, contributing significantly to Kabras' commanding performance as they landed eight tries.

Robinson scored the opening try just two minutes into the game and swiftly followed with another four minutes later, both converted by Ntabeni Dukisa that gave Kabras a comfortable 14-0 lead.

Ephraim Oduor joined in on the fun to bolster Kabras Sugar lead before Humphrey Asirikwa touched down another and Valentine Etyang adding a penalty for a 28-8 half time lead.

Frank Mutuku had scored Nondies try before adding a penalty.

In the second half, former Koyonzo Secondary School captain Jackson Siketa, making his senior debut, made an immediate impact with a try, converted once again by Dukisa.

Teddy Akala, coming off the bench, added to Nondies' woes with another try, with Dukisa's flawless kicking continuing to pile on the points.

Robinson completed his hat-trick in style, while Biden Hayo, also coming off the bench, contributed for an impressive 54-8 victory for Kabras.

Having secured a three-peat in the Enterprise Cup last season, Kabras eye a fourth straight title.

In Nairobi, Quins took an early lead with a penalty through Amon Wamwala and two tries through Albert Alela and Paul Mutsami.

Mike Wamalwa and Darwin Mukidza responded for the bankers before Elvis Namusasi made it 17-15 in favour of KCB.

In the final half, Austine Sikutwa's try extended KCB's lead before Asena drilled in a penalty for a 22-18 scoreline.

KCB moved further ahead after Sikutwa secured another crucial try in the left corner, converted once again by Namusasi, for a 29-18 lead.

Namusasi sealed the win with a late penalty.
