DCI links Eastleigh murder suspect to yet another city murder

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has linked Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the prime suspect in the murder of three women in Eastleigh, to the killing of yet another woman who had been reported missing in California, Nairobi, and her body later discovered at Lang'ata Cemetery.

In a statement on its official X platform, the DCI described this connection as a major breakthrough in the case.

The victim, Deka Adbinoor Gorone, was captured on CCTV cameras shopping at Quickmart supermarket on October 29, 2024.

Gorone would later enter an apartment in Lavington where Muhumed was allegedly residing.

On October 31, 2024, CCTV footage showed the suspect leaving the apartment, carrying two bags suspected to contain the remains of the Gorone, which were later found at Lang'ata Cemetery.

The DCI disclosed that after Muhumed left the apartment, the owner reportedly discovered the crime scene and attempted to clean up, even repainting the rooms, before going into hiding.

Meanwhile, authorities believe the woman could be Deka Adbinoor Gorone, who was reported missing at California Police Station on October 24, 2024. Forensic analysis is underway to confirm her identity.

Muhumed, who is also the main suspect in the murders of a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece in Eastleigh, has been detained for 21 days pending further investigation and is currently held at Ruaraka Police Station until November 2, 2024.

The DCI continues its search for the apartment owner, promising that it is "just a matter of time" before he is apprehended.
