Medical firm Sunview Medipro International has installed a 128-slice CT scan machine in Lamu County at the King Fahd Lamu County Referral Hospital, an upgrade from the current 64-slice.
The CT scan is a 128 slice FujiFilm FCT iStream. This is part of Sunview’s first phase of a major installation of advanced medical equipment in several public health facilities spanning across National, County and Sub- County Government Referral Hospitals in Kenya.
The project, part of the National Equipment Service Program (NESP), under the Ministry of Health (MoH) in partnership with the Council of Governors (CoG), will see the deployment of an initial 98 Diagnostic Imaging CT Scan Machines (two per county), two Diagnostic Imaging Mammogram machines, 400 operating theaters and 400 laboratories across the country.
The initiative, structured under a fee-for-service model, is designed to efficiently upgrade infrastructure, and strengthen early detection and treatment of common diseases in public health facilities. This marks a significant milestone in Kenya’s push to decentralized access to specialized medical care and Universal Healthcare Access.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Sunview Medipro Sirat Amin, already five County Referral Hospitals will be installed with State-of-the-Art CT Scans machines. Other facilities that have received equipment include Mandera County Referral Hospital, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu, Kerugoya County Referral Hospital and Wajir County Referral Hospital.
“Our integrated approach ensures that healthcare providers receive seamless support throughout the entire process,” said Sirat during the flag off ceremony held in the company headquarters in Nairobi.
He said the program is not just equipment delivery, but also installation, set up, comprehensive training, maintenance, parts, consumables and ongoing consultation to ensure optimal service delivery.
Sunview Medipro has partnered with renowned global manufacturers such as, GE, Fuji and United Imaging. More deliveries are expected to take place between eight to ten weeks.
The equipment will support specialities including cardiology, oncology, neurology, pulmonology, urology and gastroenterology –improving diagnostic and treatment capabilities across counties and other public health facilities.
Sunview Medipro plans to collaborate with regional specialists, including cardiologists, paediatricians, orthopaedic surgeons, and interventional radiologists to further enhance service delivery.
The firm is among the vendors selected to support Kenya’s National Equipment Service Program - a transformative initiative aimed at strengthening universal healthcare delivery through advanced, well-maintained medical equipment.
As part of this effort, the governmen has adopted the Fee-for-Service (FFS) model, which ensures healthcare providers across the country can upgrade healthcare infrastructure and enhance service delivery.
FFS is a service-oriented healthcare payment model where service providers are paid a fee for each individual service they provide to patients based on SHA tariffs. This differs from other models like capitation, where providers receive a fixed payment per patient per month, regardless of how many services rendered.
Its key objective is to efficiently and effectively equip facilities, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources while adhering to Social Health Insurance rates and service guidelines
