Former FKF president Nyamweya mourns death of his mother

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya has announced the death of his mother, Mama Birita Kemunto.
In a press statement sent to newsrooms on Friday afternoon, Nyamweya said that the 96-year-old succumbed on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
“It is with deep sorrow, a profound sense of loss yet with utmost gratitude to the Almighty God that; on behalf of the family Keengu family, I announce the demise of the family matriarch - Mama Birita Kemunto after a long illness bravely borne,” read part of the statement.
“Mama Birita succumbed to her illness this morning at the Nairobi Hospital at the age of 96 years. Our heartfelt appreciation to the doctors who have taken care of Mama throughout her time in and out of the hospital, our friends and relatives who have stood with us throughout Mama's illness.
“We thank the Almighty God for the gift of Mama and look forward to the glorious morning when the trumpet shall sound.
