In 2019 the Kabus revealed how they established Bonfire Adventures from sweat and tears when they were dating and still young.
In an interview with Citizen television, Simon born in Nyeri said he was a matatu tout plying Githurai 44 unsure that lady luck would smile on his face one day.
Simon said he was admitted at Egerton University to pursue economics but in the third year his parents could not afford college fees.
This, he said, forced him to hunt for a job and landed one in a kiosk where he was tasked to bake mandazi and majority of their customers were touts.
Arising from his curiosity and interaction with matatu crews, he was allowed a chance commonly known as squad on the streets and he graduated slowly to a matatu driver in 2000’s.

Amid the hustles, Simon said he met Sarah through young professionals google chat group and one year she would later become his wife after a get together at Lukenya excursion
Sarah said: “When I started dating him, I understood that we were agree on things and it became fun and I was like this is what I want being friends and this is how we discovered mutual bond on holiday and travels.”
She said after that, they were tasked with organising trips, which they did we passion as they made returns and saw an opportunity in the business adding that their business idea was hatched next to a bonfire in Masai Mara.
“We had gone to Masaai Mara to check where to take people for Easter holidays and I asked Sarah what would bring us to the park again… she said 'bonfire', recalled Simon.
The couple then hit the road never to look back, building a big brand offering hotel bookings, tour travels, air tickets and trips across the world.
