"Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped." Isaiah 35:5. In biblical context, Jesus restored sight to the blind man Bartimaeus and enabled the paralysed man to walk in Capernaum. Today, Elon Musk replicates these extraordinary physical recoveries, for example, in the case of Noland Arbaugh who was paralysed from the shoulders down after a diving accident.
In January 2024, surgeons implanted a Neuralink chip in his skull. He has since played chess, designed 3D models, and browsed the internet using nothing but thought. Remember, he did all these without moving a finger but just a cursor moving with his mind.
A second participant named Alex used the chip to work with design software, restoring professional capability through neural signals. But Musk is not stopping at cursors. At the Samson International Smart Mobility Summit in Tel Aviv, he said Neuralink will enable quadriplegics to walk again and the completely blind to see. Five words followed that stopped the world. Jesus-level miracles are not metaphorical. He spoke with long-held conviction.

Twenty-one people worldwide are living with Neuralink's Telepathy chip in their brains. People with quadriplegia, ALS, and spinal cord injuries are controlling computers through thought alone. Remember, no keyboards. Just pure thought. Speech restoration trials are underway for ALS patients who have not spoken in years.
Neuralink's Blind Sight targets the brain's visual cortex directly, bypassing damaged eyes entirely. The FDA granted it a breakthrough designation. First human application is targeted for the end of 2026. Musk says the system could deliver superhuman vision beyond what the natural eye processes. Neuralink is valued at nine billion dollars. High-volume production begins this year.

The technology is no longer replacing the human in the workplace. It is proposing to redesign what a human being is capable of. That is not a product upgrade. It is a question about the nature of humanity itself.
What it means for business
The global brain-computer interface market is projected to reach 6.2 billion dollars by 2030. Every pharmaceutical company, rehabilitation provider, and health insurer must reckon with a chip restoring function that currently costs millions per patient in lifetime care. When an ALS patient leads a team by controlling a computer through thought, every framework for disability accommodation and succession planning changes.
When Neuralink's president states the goal of implanting in otherwise healthy people by 2030, human cognitive performance becomes the next competitive frontier. Organisations preparing today will define the next decade. That is foresight leadership.
What it means for policy
The African Union has no brain-computer interface governance framework. Not a draft, not a working group and not a single committee. The technology proposing to redesign human cognition arrives whether the framework exists or not.
Kenya's Constitution guarantees the highest attainable standard of medical care. That promise now demands three answers. Who approves Neuralink implants in Kenya?
Who protects the neural data of a patient whose brain signals transmit wirelessly to external servers? Who ensures this technology reaches public hospitals, not only private clinics? The African government that answers those questions first defines what human rights mean in the age of augmentation.
What it means for the people
Somewhere in Kenya right now, a mother watches a child who has not spoken in three years. A father sits beside a son who has not walked since the accident. A young woman has been blind since birth. For those families, Musk's words are not a technology announcement. They are the closest thing to hope that science has produced in language scripture already knew.
The road from 21 Neuralnauts to mass availability is long. But the direction is no longer in doubt. The question every person of faith, every doctor, and every policymaker must now answer is the same. Who decides who receives the miracle first?
