Marsabit County has rolled out digital learning centres in selected secondary schools in a bid to equip students with modern technological skills.
The programme, spearheaded by the county government in collaboration with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, introduces students to digital tools such as coding, animation and problem-solving applications.
Governor Mohamud Ali, who presided over the launch, said the initiative is aimed at preparing learners for opportunities in the digital economy. He noted that the centres are expected to nurture innovation while improving access to learning materials.
“Our young people must be equipped with skills that match the demands of the future. This initiative will provide them with opportunities to explore, learn and innovate,” Ali said.
The county government said the programme also includes training for teachers to enable them to effectively integrate digital devices and software into the classroom. According to officials, the training is key in ensuring that both students and teachers benefit fully from the initiative.

The project has attracted support from several partners, including the Aga Khan University and UNICEF, who contributed resources and expertise to make the centres operational.
County officials said the facilities are expected to transform learning by improving creativity, access to digital content and interactive methods of teaching.
The centres will also serve as models that can be replicated in other schools across the county, with the long-term goal of expanding digital learning opportunities for all students in Marsabit.
