Nominated MCA Mark Wainaina dies after short illness

Nominated Murang’a Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Mark Wainaina has died after a brief illness.
Wainaina succumbed to a severe pulmonary disease that led to lung failure.
President William Ruto mourned his passing, describing Wainaina as a dedicated and promising leader.
"Mark Wainaina was friendly, witty, and had immense potential that helped drive the growth of the UDA Party. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him during this difficult time," said Ruto.
Murang’a MCAs had planned a fundraiser this Friday in Milimani, Nairobi, to help cover Wainaina’s medical expenses.

Governor Irungu Kang’ata had appealed on his social media platforms for financial aid, towards settling Wainaina’s hospital bill, estimated to sit at Sh40 million.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also mourned Wainaina’s passing, describing him as “a resourceful, hardworking, and politically astute young leader full of potential.”
Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata expressed his condolences, saying, “He will be remembered as an astute debater who championed the rights of his people, particularly those differently abled.”
Before he was nominated as MCA, Wainaina served in the ICT and Elections Department of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
